On July 1st, Massachusetts' state wide ban on salary history questions during the job application and interview process went into effect, placing the commonwealth among eight other states and localities that have taken the same step. Salary history questions are thought to contribute to the wage gap by advocates and legislators across the country, and by banning them governments hope to increase economic mobility for marginalized and disadvantaged groups.
