The dearth of women in tech has been attributed to an array of factors from broken pipelines to inflexible workplaces and harassment on the job. While the abovementioned issues reek of systemic sexism and demand our attention, there is another area of life where we must turn our focus: childhood. Socializing girls to pursue STEM from a young age is increasingly necessary if we hope to dismantle those gender stereotypes which steer women away from tech.
