After Massachusetts banned salary history in August 2016, many states followed suit with similar legislation. On June 14, Delaware became the most recent addition to the list. Governor Carney signed legislation which prohibits employers from requriing applicants to supply salary history information. The law does not explicitly stop employers from discussing salary history in its entirety, but rather prevents them from doing so until after an offer has already been made. Under the law, employers can discuss salary history if a prospective employee offers this information on their own accord.
