Since the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce's lawsuit against the city's wage equality legislation was turned down, 13 city businesses have also signed their names to the lawsuit, citing possible First Amendment violations and harm to business practices. Advocates for the law organized outside Philadelphia City Hall on Tuesday in an effort to convince the Chamber to drop the charges. After City Council's unanimous passing of the law and Mayor Kenney's signing of it, Philadelphia was supposed to begin banning salary history on May 23, 2017. Due to legal pushback, however, the law has been put on hold.
